How Many Mats Would Arrive on Every Trailer?

Single trailers and B-Double trucks can carry a different number of mats. Depending on how many mats are needed for your project determines the number of truck movements.

• A 24-tonne flat-top trailer can carry 50 clean Dura-Base Mats and related accessories.
• A B-Double carries 70 clean Dura-Base Mats and related accessories.

Accessories Included in Every Load

Typically, the associated locking pins and toolkits are contained in an accessory basket. This makes it easy to move around with forked equipment and all the necessary tools are in a convenient spot. Using the basket ensures equipment does not go missing on a large site and reduces the amount of space needed for the tools. Other possible accessories include pallet of ramps and ramp connectors. Unused items should be left in the accessory basket while you are not using them.

What Equipment is Needed to Load & Unload DuraBase Mats

Once the mats arrive on site, a 7.5-ton forklift with minimum 1.8m tyne length is ideal for unloading. Durabase measures in at 4.27m x 2.44m x 105mm, 450kg each. It is essential that the width of the tynes are at least 1.8m apart to ensure load stability.

How Much Does a Stack of 10 Mats Weigh?

As the default, mats are stacked in 10, weighing in at 4.5 tonnes. If needed, they can be stacked in a different amount to suit your equipment. 

Returning the Mats

To ensure a smooth loading process the mats should be aligned, facing the same direction, and neatly stacked. Consider using a stacking tray to make it easier. It’s best practice to have the mats cleared of as much debris as possible. Transporters may refuse to load excessively dirty mats as loose dirt and gravel can be a liability during transit on public roads.

A stocktake of items prior to return will prevent unnecessary additional transport cost for missed items. Once arriving in our yard, our team will count the items twice as part of our ISO audit process.
