Construction Bog Mats Used on Residential Development

$700m of residential development was underway and required sheet piling to the fortify the outer walls. The basement’s foundation was constructed by excavating a level down and concrete was poured for stabilisation purposes. The mats were installed for 6 months and were reusable.

The client ran into numerous issues with fluid management while excavating the ground. There was an abundance of groundwater under the site and seasonal rains further escalated the problem. The excess water couldn’t be pumped in a reasonable time due to the amount of mud and silt in the underlying ground.

How the Bog Mats Were Used

The project site was a small enclosed area that restricted movement of the machinery. A stable platform was required as trucks, cranes, and excavators couldn’t maneuver around freely with the muddy ground. Also, it was mandatory that the piling drill remained level for accurate drilling.

Residential Development Piling

Rather than using crushed rock to level the ground, Dura-Base mats are reusable over the entire site. This minimises the time taken to pick up and replace the crushed rock after the initial levelling has been completed. Interlocked together in this project, The mats boast a study 105mm thickness and are environmentally friendly.

The apartment complexes are still under construction in this project, however, the initial stages requiring the mats are complete. The foundation of the apartments has been fortified through sheet piling and work could commence without hassle after the mats arrived on site.
